Hey, I'm Gabriel Busch.
I'm a generalist, builder, mechanical engineer by training, and slightly obsessive productivity geek trying to live with more intention and create things that actually matter.
I started The Weekly Draft because I genuinely believe that knowledge only matters if it’s shared. What’s the point of spending hours reading, learning, reflecting, and improving… if none of it ever leaves your own head?
My Purpose
To grow 1% every day.
To live intentionally.
To solve meaningful problems.
And most importantly: to share what I learn along the way, in hopes that it helps someone else move forward too.
That’s what this newsletter is about — not to showcase finished, flawless work, but to openly share ideas-in-progress that might inspire, clarify, or spark something useful for you.
How can I help you through my Newsletter?
My #1 goal here is to make this genuinely valuable for you.
This newsletter is a place where I share practical insights, personal experiments, and hard-earned lessons — the kind of things I’d want someone to share with me.
Maybe something I share will help you avoid a mistake I’ve already made.
Maybe it’ll unlock a new way of thinking.
Or, in the worst case, you learn something new and move on with your day.
Whatever it is, I take your time seriously, and I try to make every edition worth opening.
What to expect
Every Saturday, I send a 5-minute-ish, value focused email sharing what I’m working on, thinking about, failing at, or quietly obsessing over.
Sometimes it’s deep. Sometimes it’s chaotic.
But it’s always honest, thoughtful, and filler-free.
A Bit more About My Background
I’ve always had this urge to connect dots between things. I studied mechanical engineering, worked in a big company with an international career path, and realized over time that what truly energizes me is solving problems — especially the ones that take me out of my conforto zone.
I consider myself a generalist at heart. The kind of person who gets curious about way too many things at once… and then somehow makes them talk to each other.
Other Interests
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me doing something active. Sports have always been a core part of my life.
I started swimming when I was 3, and won a few state championships along the way. More recently, I’ve fallen in love with triathlon — I’ve completed my first short race and I’m currently training for an Olympic-distance one.
I also play padel, a pandemic-era discovery that quickly turned into a full-blown addiction.
As for my more intellectual hobbies, I enjoy chess, brain teasers, puzzles, and anything that involves strategy, structure, or mildly unnecessary complexity.
Thanks for Being Here
If you’ve read this far. Thank you.
I’m glad we connected, and I hope you’ll stick around to see what comes next.
Let’s figure things out — one draft at a time.
